Director’s Notes March 22, 2019

What a fantastic week we had a NESA! Starting the spring strong! Lots of celebrations and IM went on a fantastic field trip to the Tobin to see Black Violin today! It was the highlight of my week!

Big Give Day- March 28th. NESA has two initiatives going on this Big Give Day.

Initiative #1:
pARTners is raising money for master classes for the school for every major! They have a big goal of $5,000.00!
Note from pARTners:
We are excited to announce that next Thursday, March 28th, NESA pARTners will be fundraising in conjunction with The Big Give SA via our own fundraiser!  This will include an all-day social media marketing campaign that will make it easy for everyone to participate.  We are currently in the process of coordinating matching challenges that we can use to boost participation throughout the day.  If you are interested in setting up a matching challenge donation or have any questions, please reach out to NESA parent Darcy Scrimpshire at dscrimps12@yahoo.com.

Initiative #2:
North East Educational Foundation’s Big Give will take place from midnight to midnight on Thursday, March 28, 2019. 75% of the funds raised by the NESA campus will go toward our Campus, while the other 25% goes to NEISD initiatives. Additionally, the campus that raises the most funds receives and additional $1,500. The campus that comes in second place will receive an additional $500! NESA is looking for money to buy LED lights for the LEE theater, an initiative that will help the entire campus! See NESA’s page at https://www.thebiggivesa.org/p2p/83096/north-east-school-of-the-arts

Las Casas Opportunities

I am forwarding this message from Las Casas in case families want to look into these opportunities:

Las Casas will be hosting a free workshop this weekend at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre. The workshop will take place from 4-6PM on Sunday, March 3. This College Audition Workshop, featuring NYU’s Assistant Director of Music Theatre – Program in Vocal Performance, Professor Ryan Driscoll, is designed to assist teachers whose students plan to audition for university-level performing arts programs as they guide their students to audition for schools with confidence. The workshop is recommended for teachers, private voice teachers, coaches and parents; students are also welcome to attend. We hope you can join us for this unique opportunity. You can RSVP here: https://lcfteacherworkshop3319.eventbrite.com

Also, I wanted to let you know/remind you about our Production Assistant internship. New in 2019, Las Casas Foundation is proud to present the Joci Awards Production Assistant Internship Program as part of its annual performing arts scholarship program and in affiliation with the Joci Awards production team. Under the direction of a professional production company, Production Assistants will play a role in the creative, technical and musical aspects of the 2019 Joci Awards. The deadline to apply is Sunday, March 24. Additional details, including rules, guidelines and application can be found here: http://www.lascasasfoundation.org/2019-rules-and-guidelines-production-assistant-internship/

One more week to go till Spring Break! Again, I encourage you to check your student’s grades!
Have a great weekend!
