Director’s Notes Dec. 21, 2018

We made it! Winter break is upon us!

Our school is closed from Monday, December 24, 2018, thru Monday, January 7, 2019. The first day back to school is January 8, 2019.

We have asked that our teachers and staff unplug from their email for a majority of the holiday break.  So if you have an issue, you might not receive a reply until January 7, 2019.

I hope you all have a happy holidays and a restful break!

See you in 2019!

Director’s Notes Dec. 14, 2018

Happy Friday NESA families! Today I saw children giving gifts to each other, I heard a lovely Hanukkah song, listened to stories of students volunteering at the food bank and Elf Louise, saw a person go out of their way to help a stranger and I realized that we are well into the Holiday season! Time flies, but the mood of this place warms my heart.

Need a little cheer? Or maybe just some beautifully orated poems? Then you should join us for Creative Writing’s It’s A Wonderful Night show on Saturday! Show starts at 7 in the auditorium. Ticket prices have dropped and are now $3, $2 for students, and all proceeds benefit Creative Writing. We would love to see you there!

Finals start on Tuesday so I also know that while being joyous and caring, kids are also stressed. I encourage everyone to get some rest this weekend! Sometimes the best thing you could to to prep for tests is to be rested!

On the opposing note, please check on your student’s grades. There is still time to make up work!

Please remember, Thursday and Friday are early release days and school will be out at 1:30.

On Thursday, NRF is hosting its Polar Express movie fundraiser in the Auditorium after the early release so students can stay, socialize and watch a new holiday classic.

At 3:30 after the movie on Thursday, Visual Art families are invited to meet Mrs. Gonzales, their new teacher, in the art room! She will be joining our NESA family on Jan. 7th!

A note: If seniors need their transcripts before winter break is over they must have the request in to the counseling office before noon on Friday.

Also, Congratulations to Julia Mahavier, our NESA wide winner of Poetry Out Loud! We will be sending her to the state competition in February! Big thanks to Creative writing moms for helping out with this! I could not have made it happen without you! My favorite part of this month so far has been seeing how the NESA community can come together to do what is best for kids!

Have a great weekend!

Director’s Notes Nov. 30th

Director’s Notes Nov. 30th 2018

We have so many great things going on at NESA this month! We came back from the holiday and hit the ground running!

I want to share how every day I am so impressed with the work ethic and intelligence of our students. They volunteer when help is needed, look out for each other, and work so hard! I love seeing their smiling faces in the hall and in their classes. It reminds me every day of why I am in this position and I know my teachers feel the same way. The multitude of performances you will find below only scratch the surface of their immense talent and dedication!
