Director’s Notes 11-16-18

Thanksgiving is here! I know we all have so much to be thankful for. I hope that everyone gets to enjoy some family time and relax! Break is Monday Nov. 19th thru Friday Nov 23rd. School resumes on Monday, November 26th.

If you get a moment this holiday break, think about sending a thank you email to a teacher on the NESA or LEE campus that has gone above and beyond for your son or daughter. We are all in it for the kids and sometimes teachers need to hear appreciation to refresh their spirits!

When we return from Thanksgiving break we will go right into Steppin’ Into the Holidays!
The dance holiday performance will run Nov. 30th– Dec. 2nd. Tickets are on sale now! Go to www.seatyourself.biz/nesa and get them while you can. These shows will sell out!

Exam exemptions are due Dec. 5th without exception. Exemption forms are available in the main office but will also be available online. Students will need teacher and parent signatures prior to submitting in person in the LEE Main Office by the deadline of December 5th.

And we have a new club at NESA- NESA Nomads– check out the attached flyer if your student is interested in travel with the school!

I am going to end my weekly update tonight with a quote:

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow.”– Melody Beattie

I am grateful for the NESA community!

Have a great break!

Director’s Notes: Nov. 9, 2018

We have one week to go before Thanksgiving break! I know I am excited to see my family and friends. I hope the kids get a little rest and relaxation.

Night with NESA and Magnet night

Our big open house event for prospective students is coming up this week! Night with NESA is on Tuesday from 6-8pm. Spread the word to your friends and neighbors to come check out what we do!

Then, Magnet Night is on Wednesday, so if those friends and neighbors can’t make Tuesday or are not art oriented people, they can come to Blossom Athletic Center from 5:30-7:30 to check out every magnet program NEISD has to offer! And all but a few are open to students out of district. Spread the word!

Last chance to see Newsies!

We run the show this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You don’t know what fun you are missing if you don’t go check it out! Box office opens one hour before curtain.

Silent Auction on Saturday!

This is the final weekend for pARTners silent auction. There is a ton of really cool stuff. Shop for the holidays, buy yourself something, support our school!!! There are so many items, but I want to highlight a labradoodle puppy, a John Hart purse, Whataburger for year, Cryotherapy, all kinds of giftcards, and more. They could be yours and the proceeds would directly benefit your student! Not a bad deal!

You do not have to be present to win, nor do you have to come to the show. The items are in the lobby before the show opens and final bids happen during intermission approximately 8:45. You could go to dinner, swing by and shop, then go home! See you there!

Steppin’ Into the Holidays is coming up!

Steppin’ Into the Holidays runs Nov. 30- Dec. 2. Tickets are available at www.seatyourself.biz/nesa and I am pretty sure it will sell out. Tell your friends!

pARTners meeting in the LEE library Wednesday at 7!

We want to see lots of parents there!

From LEE counseling office: Attention Seniors!

Transcripts requests for the December 1st Deadline must be submitted not later than Tuesday, November 27th—4:30 pm –No exceptions.   This is especially important due to the 5 business days needed to send these requests—Please see Ms. Jennifer Martinez in the Counseling Office.   Any transcript requests received after the November 27th deadline will be processed in the order they are received.  Please turn in your transcript requests early.

Silent Auction fund raiser for NESA pARTners

Want Whataburger for a year? Or maybe a puppy!!! Then you might want to come to our silent auction. This auction is how pARTners helps us pay for Master Classes like Sarah Kay and Chelsie Hightower. You do not have to come to see the show to bid, you just need to stop by!

Silent auction is Saturday, November 3rd and Saturday, November 10th, NESA pARTners will be holding our biggest Fundraiser of the year during the showing of Disney’s Newsies. We will be hosting two nights of our silent auction with some fabulous items that you do not want to miss bidding on. The silent auction will open both evenings by 6pm and bidding will take place until the close of intermission. You will be able to pay for and collect your items immediately following the show. We accept cash, checks and credit cards. So Join us the next two Saturdays for an explosive production of Disney’s Newsies while getting to bid on and take home some great items! As a reminder ALL proceeds go into our Teacher support and Master Class budgets for the year. Without you, your family and friends, we could not support our students and teachers with extra opportunities and classroom needs and support.

If you have not had the chance to become a NESA pARTner member please take the opportunity to sign up online at https://www.nesapartners.net/membership  OR you can sign up any night of any of the Newsies shows at the concession window. Just ask how!

DPS clearance to volunteer

Hi parents! Did you know that you need to be DPS cleared to volunteer with our kids? I encourage you to go to this website and fill out the form. Often the clearance is good for multiple years, but you should check and make sure you are still cleared! This is for the safety of all of our students! Thank you!
